• Provision of event safety advice to venues, organisers, promoters managers, staff, clients, voluntary organisations and contractors.

• Providing onsite support and advice at both indoor and outdoor events to establish and maintain public safety, ensuring the effective implementation of safety arrangements and dynamic amendments due to developing real time scenarios.

• Develop, implement monitor and review health and safety management systems and emergency plans including production of reports as applicable.

• Attend multiagency meetings with statutory authorities and attend/facilitate table top exercises.

  • Crowd safety management.

  • Fire safety advice and risk assessment.

  • Pyrotechnic / special effect safety inspections

Responsibilities included:

• Reporting directly to the Executive Board and working closely with the management team on devising corporate H&S strategies

• Managing a team of eight Health and Safety professionals working across the National

 

National Exhibition Centre Ltd group of companies.

 

• Providing H&S advice and support to the groups Executive Board, Venue Boards, Corporate departments, senior management teams and others as appropriate.

• Providing board reports and assurances in respect of H&S performance and compliance.

• Designing and continually developing a robust, coherent H&S management system to enable the organisation to manage H&S in a diverse and dynamic industry.

• Ensuring continuous improvement and consistent development of standards and, through the safety team, deploy a comprehensive framework of policy and procedural arrangements

• Managing clear objectives and a performance framework, making an effective contribution to the overall management of H&S matters across the organisation and throughout the management teams.

• Providing competent fire safety advice to the responsible person and others as required

• Production of fire safety management strategies and fire risk assessments for complex environments.

• Liaison with statutory and local authorities on all matters including enforcement issues.

1992 – Current.

Non executive director for Fairview Farm Equestrian Centre. A qualified and experienced trainer and assessor within the equine industry. Provision of safety advice and support to the British Horse society, regional safety advisor for British Eventing and British Showjumping course designer.

2002 – 2004

Private Investigators based in Nottingham. I was responsible for working on a range of cases including working for private clients, solicitors and insurance companies. Tasks included; investigating fraudulent insurance claims, serving legal papers and obtaining evidence through interviews & observations. I produced written reports which in turn where used in criminal and civil proceedings.

 

Pre 1992

 

Leaving school in 1980 I worked in agriculture where, before changing career in 1992 I worked predominantly with livestock. My final post was that of manager of an agricultural unit employing 8 persons.
